Ensure production targets and profit margins are achieved cost effectively and safely on a sustainable basis for the shaft/business unit. Implement and maintain sound people management and development practices to ensure a productive workforce. Develop and execute the strategic vision/plan for a shaft and directly assist the GM in the tactical management process via transformational/effective leadership. Act as the custodian for innovation, technology and best practices at shaft level. Ensure environmental and social concerns are managed as a strategic focus area at shaft level. Ensure effective asset management processes are implemented and adhered to.
Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) is essential. Valid Blasting certificate is essential. B degree/NHD in Mining Engineering is essential. Valid Mine Overseer’s Certificate of Competency and Mine Manager’s Certificate is essential. 3-5 years working exposure as a Mine Overseer is essential. At least 3 years working exposure as an appointed Mine Manager is essential. Medically fit in order to obtain a medical certificate. Strategic thinking and planning skills are essential. General Management skills. Conflict handling skills. Negotiation skills. Computer literacy (MS Office) is essential. 3 years working exposure in a project environment would be considered an advantage.
